The Ella Odyssey train is a cool way to see Sri Lanka. It goes from Colombo, which’s the main city, to Badulla, which is up in the mountains. This train is special because it runs on a schedule that lets you see lots of things during the day. It goes to the mountains on Thursdays and Saturdays. Then it comes back to the coast on Fridays and Sundays.
I think the best thing about this train is that it stops at some amazing places. The train will slow down. Stop for a bit so you can take pictures of the Horsetail Waterfall, Sri Pada mountain and Elgin Falls. You do not even have to get off the train. The train stops for a while at the Nine Arch Bridge, which is really famous. You can get out. Take pictures of this old bridge that is over a hundred years old.
The Ella Odyssey train route takes you through lots of kinds of landscapes. You start at sea level. Then go through the city. Then you go up into the hills. See tea plantations, pine trees and clouds. The part of the trip, between Kandy and Ella is really beautiful. You see lots of mountains and valleys.
If you want to take the Ella Odyssey train you have to plan. You can only buy tickets thirty days before the train leaves. The website where you buy tickets opens at midnight one month before the train trip. If you do not get your tickets away they might be sold out. Then you have to try to get tickets at the train station or buy them from a travel company, which can be expensive.
