Historic Intersection

The Lipton Circus roundabout is a busy place in Colombo. It is also called the De Soysa Circus. This place is important because seven big roads meet here. It connects parts of the city. The roundabout is named after Sir Thomas Lipton, a Scottish tea merchant. He had his office near this place. There is a statue of Charles Henry de Soysa in the middle of the roundabout. It is best to visit the Lipton Circus in the late morning when there are not many cars on the road. You can walk on the sidewalks. Take pictures of the old buildings. There are tuk-tuks and taxis available to take you where you want to go. You can also visit the Viharamahadevi Park which’s close, by.
