Wasala Village View Holiday Bungalow: A Peaceful Place to Stay in the Highlands

The Wasala Village View Holiday Bungalow is an calm place to stay. It is located in the Uva Province, near the town of Diyatalawa. This new two-story house is a place to relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the mountains. It is not as busy as tourist places like Ella and Bandarawela. If you want to experience the Sri Lankan countryside this is a great place to stay. The bungalow has views of the mountains, rivers, lakes and tea plantations. It is a place to get away from the city and enjoy the cool mountain air.

Where is Wasala Village View?

Wasala Village View is in Diyatalawa, a highland town between Bandarawela and Haputale.

The property is away from the busy center of Ella, giving it a much more residential and rural atmosphere.

Its address is:

Mullewatta, Ellagama, Welgolla Road, Diyatalawa 90150, Sri Lanka.

Why stay in Diyatalawa?

Diyatalawa is a lot quieter than Ella.

Ella is really crowded with tourists now. Diyatalawa still feels like a small town in the highlands.

That is why Wasala Village View is a choice if you want things like:

✅ Peace and quiet

✅ Beautiful mountains

✅ Cooler weather

✅ A place that is good for families

✅ A chance to explore the hills around you

✅ To stay away from areas that’re too touristy

You can also easily visit some great places, near Diyatalawa like Haputale, Bandarawela, Ella and Horton Plains.

The accommodation experience

Wasala Village View is a holiday bungalow.It is not a luxury resort.The things that Wasala Village View thinks are important are:

💜 A peaceful environment

💜 Clean rooms

💜 staff

💜 Garden and outdoor space

💜 Parking

💜 Food and room service

💜 Family- accommodation

People like Wasala Village View.

Google looked at the reviews. Found that people really like the service at Wasala Village View, the property how clean it is, the bathrooms and the atmosphere.

People who wrote reviews, on Tripadvisor also liked Wasala Village View.

Afamily who stayed at Wasala Village View in February 2026 wrote a review.

They liked that Wasala Village View was clean the staff were nice the bathrooms were good and the food was tasty.

They said Wasala Village View is a place for families and friends to stay.

Rooms

One good thing about some rooms is that they have kitchen facilities. I found this out from Google Hotels.

This is really useful for families with children, people who are staying for a time travelers who like to make simple meals for themselves and groups traveling together.

This place is not a hotel it is more like a cozy home. So people who stay here should not expect it to be super modern and luxurious.

One thing to remember is that air conditioning is not available.. Since Diyatalawa is in the highlands and the weather is cool it is not as big of a deal as it would be, in other parts of Sri Lanka that are hot and tropical.

Misty waterfront park with red flowers, green benches, trees, and scenic lake views.

For families, I’d choose Ella or Bambarakanda rather than trying to cram several long mountain journeys into one day.

How long do you need to stay at Wasala Village View?

1 night is enough if you just want to stop over for a time between going to different places.

It is an idea to stay here for one night. Wasala Village View is a place to stop overnight when you are traveling from one place to another.

2 nights is what I think most people should do.

You can stay in the bungalow. Visit lots of other places like

* Diyatalawa

* Haputale

* Liptons Seat

* Ella

without having to change hotels all the time.

If you have time you can stay for 3 or 4 nights.

This is the option for people who want to take it easy and have a relaxing holiday in the hills. You can use this time to see the waterfalls visit the tea estates and go hiking on the trails, at Wasala Village View.

Things to keep in mind

Wasala Village View isn’t a large luxury resort.

Expect a comfortable, homely hill-country bungalow rather than:

✅A swimming-pool resort

✅A five-star spa hotel

And

✅A nightlife-focused property

✅A modern international chain hotel

Also, because the property is in the mountains, having your own vehicle or arranging a driver is very useful.

Several of the area’s major attractions are separated by winding mountain roads, and Google estimates journeys of roughly 30 minutes to Dhowa Rock Temple and up to around 90 minutes to Diyaluma Falls

Practical tips

➡️Bring warm clothing.

Diyatalawa can be surprisingly cool at night.

➡️Wake up early.

Mountain viewpoints are often clearest early in the morning.

➡️Have a car or driver.

This gives you much greater flexibility.

➡️Ask about your room facilities.

Kitchen facilities are available in some rooms, not necessarily all.

➡️Confirm breakfast arrangements.

Current Google information lists breakfast as an extra-charge amenity.

➡️Don’t try to see everything in one day.

Ella, Lipton’s Seat, Horton Plains and Diyaluma Falls are spread across the region.
